Man Seriously Injured In Stabbing At Huntington Station Deli

A man was seriously injured during a stabbing at a Long Island deli during a dispute.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m., Sunday, May 12, in Huntington Station inside Las Lajas Deli at 156 Depot Road.

According to Suffolk County Police, two men were engaged in a verbal dispute inside Las Lajas Deli when one of the men stabbed the other in the neck, chest, and abdomen.

Suffolk County Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested Adelcy Almendarez, age 50, of Huntington Station.

The 40-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

Almendarez was charged with:

  • Assault first-degree
  • Assault fourth-degree 
  • Criminal possession of a weapon. 

He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, May 13.
